New Information Paradigms Natural Spirals
Most of the images on our site depict spirals in nature. The spiral and the vortex visually encapsulate circular flows, whilst incorporating the idea of evolution, iteration, progression and expansion.
Where there is sustainable growth and evolving lifecycles in nature, there will be spirals.
The mathematics of the Fibonacci numbers generates a logarithmic spiral as well as manifestations in art, architecture, music, poetry, science and computing.
In short, the spiral and the vortex are visual metaphors that we believe reflect and represent the way we are evolving in the complex adaptive world we live in.
When NIP was founded in 1989, we tried to create a spiral logo but graphics packages weren't up to it then, so we ended up settling for our layered triangular logo - our best approximation at the time!
