NIP's web-based solutions are focussed on eliminating inefficiencies and supporting new ways of working.

They are currently focussed on the Pharmaceutical and Public sectors - and also in the area of Relationship Development - but they build upon years of solving similar problems in different industries, and factoring out the key components and principles where professionals need to collaborate. At a business level, these include:

• New business structures and needs, owing to the increasing realisation of the Internet's potential
• The need to focus on core competencies, and work with other companies doing the same
• Disparate resources and parties needing to come together, often virtually and across traditional functional or organisational boundaries
• The need to fulfil specific "niche" tasks as part of a wider, integrated context
• The encoding and streamlining of complex work processes
• The re-use and repurposing of both structured and unstructured content
• Competitive pressures for greater efficiency and reduced costs, alongside also meeting process and quality obligations

Whilst the specific fulfilment of these general goals varies significantly by industry, there is then a lot of commonality from a system functionality perspective:

• Forms, views, questionnaires, graphs
• Processes, rules, workflow, access rights, etc
• Import and export of standard file formats - Excel, XML, text - e.g. for reporting or integration with other systems/data
